Shari Curran is the founder and Executive Director of the Therapet Foundation. Therapet Foundation is a non-profit organization whose mission is to facilitate the use of animals in the healing and rehabilitation of acute and chronically ill individuals. Therapet has utilized specially trained dogs and cats in Animal Assisted Therapy for over 20 years.
Over the last two years, Therapet has begun to utilize miniatures horses in Animal Assisted Therapy with great success. The miniature horses go through training and testing to ensure they have the temperament and control needed to work with seriously ill and handicapped individuals. This training includes exposure to small children, a variety of equipment utilized by handicapped and ill children and adults, and the sights and sounds of hospital and community events.
There are currently 7 certified minis in the Therapet program. Stone Hill Farm is excited to have Precious, Dixie Pixie, Power Trip, and Chelsea currently certified with Therapet. We have several other miniatures in training and hope they certify soon!
